The Struggle of having a band family
My school's band gathering around for judges comments at field day.
Everyone that takes part in band (especially marching band) knows that they become part of the "band family". The band family is basically a cult of freshmen, sophmores, juniors, seniors, the director and coaches. We all share the same interest, music. What makes us all a family is going through blood, sweat and tears together. Some of us have that love-hate relationship with each other so we are a dysfunctional family. Having a second family is the greatest thing but at the same time it is just a struggle. How is it a struggle?? Well let's see.. theres the moments when your section just isn't improving so you want to throw them in a bush, or the moments you fight with your class, moments when there is petty drama within the band members, moments when people act like they don't care, moments when people just walk of the field, sore losers, negative people....should I go on? I mean I LOVE everyone in my band family...but sometimes being with them 24/7 can be a struggle. Having a band family isn't the struggle...it's more like keeping us all sane and happy together is what makes it hard. Familys are supposed to stick together and all that...
Even though we are dysfunctional at the end of the day being part of the band family is most definitely not a stuggle. We have too many good points in all our relationships to truly call the band family a struggle.
